Your Guide to 360° Profiling

What is 360° Profiling?
It is a way of getting structured feedback from a number of people to assess how you are performing based on some core behavioural competencies.

What is the purpose of it?
It helps you to understand what areas you are competent in and what opportunities exist for you to further improve. The process works on the principle of getting feedback from your line manager and 4 other work colleagues. This tends to offer a more accurate and balanced picture of your performance.

How long will it take me to complete?
We estimate that it will take 10-20 minutes to complete a profile, whether doing one on yourself or for someone else as a member of their feedback team.

NB. When rating performance, go with your first instincts and remember to be totally honest - especially when rating someone else’s performance. There is no point in the exercise if you only put what you think they want to hear!

Will others see what I have put?
No, feedback from work colleagues is anonymous. The participant will only see a Summary Report that shows average scores. Feedback from the line manager however, is not anonymous

How does it work?
It is really easy to do. The basic stages involved are as follows:
  1. Identify your feedback team. This should consits of your line manager and 4 work colleagues.
NB. Ensure you choose people who have a good working knowledge of you and you know will be honest, otherwise you will get no value from the profiling process.
  2. Enter details of your chosen Feedback Team.
  3. Complete your own profile.
  4. View your results (you can only do this once your feedback team have completed their profiles)
NB. Don't worry if this sounds complicated as the system guides you through all of the above and it really is very easy to use.

What will the Participant get out of this?
360º Profiling will help participants:

Develop self-awareness, i.e. understand how others see them
Evaluate their current performance
Focus their personal development on the right things
Evaluate their ongoing performance

Thank you for taking the time to read these guidelines.
